Day 35 Camino Confessions
Okay. The app I’m using has been giving me fits so I am a bit behind. Sorry. Yesterday’s walk was to put it lightly, unusual. The hordes of pilgrims dramatically changed the character of the Camino for Carla and me. Yesterday we spent so much of our time and effort trying to navigate our way through the masses we had little time for reflection. We passed many Pilgrims on their cell phones. We passed Pilgrims blasting tunes from their phones. We passed Pilgrims doing sexy photo shots on the trail side. We passed Pilgrims climbing all over statues mugging for photos. We passed 2 young girls and Carla said Buen Camino. They wanted to take selfies of them and Carla and then one with me too. And on it went. Carla and I took it all in stride but it was hard to find the mystical, spiritual aura of the Camino in the midst of all the craziness. We kind of defaulted into the mode of just getting from point A to point B. I anticipate this atmosphere will dominate all the way into Santiago.
