Seville-Day 0
I made it in country. Seville is a vibrant city with lots of tourists, roaming bands of troubadours, sedentary street flamenco guitarists, families, students, cafes everywhere, winding narrow medieval streets and just lots of life. I walked around much of Seville but I did not see one barber. As expected, I did not see many pilgrims either- just one. He was Italian and spoke no English or Spanish- not a long conversation but still the pleasant and comforting Pilgrim connection. He was about my age. We are both heading to the same town tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll see him again. If not properly marked, you can easily get off track in cities. I wanted to map out tomorrow’s start. Thankfully I have an app that tracks the whole trip. I will sure need it. I could only spot one yellow arrow in the first few miles. I expect (hope) for a change of mood once I start the walk as the long flight, jet lag and my health have given me the blahs- and no Carla either.
The grand Cathedral de Sevilla where I will attend mass tomorrow at 8:30 to start my pilgrimage on the Via de la Plata. The remains of Christopher Columbus are housed here. They were moved here from Cuba around 1912.
The official starting point of the Via de la Plata and the shoes I’m going to wear on it. This marker is embedded in the street in front of the cathedral.
