Day 23 Meseta Finito
Well Carla and I finally finished the Meseta with it’s flat farmland and very little civilization. The 120+ miles did at times become mind numbing. One of the things that kept us going was getting to Leon. All the accommodations along the Camino have been fine- some finer than others. But….. with both of us battling feet issues, a day off will be a welcome relief as will the hotel we booked for our 2 days in Leon. There have been (and there will be more) challenging days where faith and prayer will get us through but the next 2 days for us should be luxury defined. I will post pictures of it, The Parador of Leon, for the next 2 days. I don’t think the Lord will oppose Carla and me finding refuge in its opulence. It has a church. Heck- some churches are more ornate than others but they are all places of worship and equally holy. We need to relax, recharge and recover because after Leon it’s 13 straight days and about 200 miles on the Camino to get to Santiago. I think I’ve rationalized our splurging enough.

Camino urban style
We’ve seen this siding everywhere- a combination of mud and straw often with some brick added a few centuries later
