Day 44- Did My Faith Hold
The second to the last day should have been marked with anticipation and enthusiasm. It wasn’t. My mission today was to get through the heaviest rains to date. I only took a few pictures for fear my cell phone would get wet and crash on me. I unzipped the pockets to my rain jacket so I could warm my hands. I actually had puddles in my pockets so I couldn’t put my hands all the way down. The voice of Nancy Kerrigan screaming “Why Me” echoed in my brain. It was by far my fastest day on the trail- 13 miles in 3 1/2 hours. I got to my lodge before 11:00. I just wanted to get in from the rain. That’s all I could think about. Challenge met! Where does this sufferfest fit in my Camino experience? As I’ve mentioned in the past, I had to find the inner strength from somewhere to conquer today’s deluge. What fortified, motivated and drove me? It had to come from somewhere. I think God gave me the strength through my faith in him. Oh and for the record, I did pray for the rain to stop. It did but only after I finished my walk on the Camino for the day. I guess I should have been more specific.
Last night’s lodging
I am 13 miles from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela- the finish. There’s a good chance of no rain tomorrow for the 4 hour walk.
