Day 26- The VDLP Camino Challenge
A desire for greater spiritual presence in my life was one of the reasons I undertook this effort. I was not real sure what the VDLP would be but I was pretty certain the distance, remoteness and the paucity of Pilgrims would challenge me in way last year’s pilgrimage did not. VDLP has indeed challenged me in a multitude of ways. Snow, sleet, hail, rain, cold, heat, difficult terrain, long long stretches of straight flat roads as far as the eye can see, threatening livestock, mud, countless water crossings, challenges in finding lodging, surviving certain lodging, homesickness, sore neck, back and feet, and more all flowed from the Camino. I’ve absorbed what the Camino has put before me and so far I am still walking. I’m pretty darn sure it has been my faith which has given me the strength to handle all the Camino has thrown my way. I did not ask the Lord to make this easy on me. I asked him to help me find the strength within me to keep getting up day after day to face all the challenges before me. The Lord is with me (he’s with all of us). I expect to prevail.
