Day 19- Harvey Help!

Yes I am trying to walk over 600 miles with all my worldly goods on my back through a foreign country. But perhaps the bigger and more daunting challenge for me is trying to find and reserve hotel rooms along the way. Harvey is my travel agent and boy could I use him now and not just because of yesterday’s snafu. I wanted to finish today in the town of Cáparra which I found on my map. However, despite a dogged search I could not find any hotels in Caparra. I did find a hotel in the nearby town of Jarilla. The hotel owner offered to pick me up in Caparra because his place was off the Camino. He spoke no English and I could not understand him beyond him saying he would pick me up at the arch. I asked him which one and where was it, near a store, church, hotel? I could not understand his answer so I just said I would call him once I got into town. Last night I thought I would do some research. Turns out Caparra was founded by the Romans in the 1st Century and the town was abandoned in the 9th Century. All that’s left of Caparra is an arch and some ruins. Well that explained a lot.

Last night’s back up plan

Many water crossings today- cleared them all, yeah

Entering the bustling metropolis of Caparra

Leaving Caparra
