Day 32 Thinking of Home

We have 6 more days of walking. We will be home in 8 days. We’ve been away for 34 days. I’ll never stop thanking and appreciating all the family and friends who have followed our journey and offered encouragement. Today my mind filled with the excitement of seeing everyone at home. I so look forward to connecting with folks. The thought of people excited about our return warms my heart. It’s a simple but powerful thought-for me true happiness is relationship driven. That’s what the Camino imparted to me today.

Camino fun fact- The pilgrimage to Santiago de Campostela was one of the criminal punishments imposed to the condemned prisoners, both by civil and ecclesiastic tribunals around Europe from the Middle Ages to the French Revolution. Both distance and time were established according to the offense committed. Carla wants to know what she did to deserve the maximum sentence.

A very narrow path out of the village

This woman was sitting in her yard trying to sell a Galician version of crepes. I couldn’t turn her down. She made them in her kitchen just behind us. She sprinkled sugar on them and they were delicious.

The Camino is also used by livestock. You really have to watch your step at times. After having hopped around many a cow pie, I mentioned to Carla that I see all the droppings but I don’t see any cattle on the road. A few minutes later we were treated to the locals passing through before we could cross the street

Sampling some traditional Galicia dishes of padron peppers, scallops and paella
