Peter and Carla's Camino

Day 5 Fields of Life

Internet is very weak- not sure the video and photos will make it through. Today we walked through endless fields of wheat- seas of bright green. I thought of how many people would be nourished and sustained by what was all around me. I know wheat grows in many places, certainly not just on the Camino. The Camino route itself is not mystical or spiritual to me, though it is breathtaking. You can see fields, mountains, valleys, rivers, towns, crops and historical settings the World over. To me the awesomeness of the Camino is the flow of mankind passing through it - each person over the centuries leaving their mark if only a footstep covered by another or the smoothing of a stone along the path from so many travelers or the remembrance piles I’ve written about. People of all ages, backgrounds, religions and cultures converge on this path. We interact. We commune. We coexist. We respect each other. We encourage each other. We care about each other. Our sorrows, burdens, wishes and wants all intermingle. It’s the Pilgrims, past and present, that make the Camino so spiritual and powerful. I am so glad Carla and I have had the joy of getting swept up in this flow of varied faith and purpose. IT time-Nothing is loading and I want to try and get some sleep. There’s some fun stuff and sad stuff I wanted to post but I need the photos and videos which just won’t load. Hasta Manana!
