Day 16- Faith
Well I faced the toughest day yet which says a lot if you read some of the entries from the early days. Rain was predicted and indeed I could hear and see the storm to the east. I tried to capture it with the sunrise in a picture below. God was with me today. He guided me and protected me. The weather held, my backpack was well secured, cool temperatures prevailed most of the journey, and I walked with others the whole way which helped the time go by. I relied on my faith. It gave me strength- physical strength, spiritual strength. At many points in time, my thoughts strayed to imagining I couldn’t do it. I should quit. What if I fell off of one of the high bridges I crossed (I have a fear of heights), what if I injured myself on one of the loose rocky steep trails that marked much of today’s journey. Many weak thoughts. I know who was putting those thoughts in my head and he failed. I knew he tried and failed and I told him so. Some of this content coming from me may surprise some people. It surprises me. But for the last 16 days I have been on a Pilgrimage in a foreign country with reduced human interaction- my mind has had center stage allowing reflections like these to surface. It’s a blessing.
Another predawn departure. My hotel was the second door on the left
Note the storm in the distance
Not an encouraging sign
Much appreciated companionship- all Germans. One of 2 picnic tables in 20+ miles- had to take advantage of it.
Not rational thinking but this bridge and one just like it really gave me the creeps.
Today’s destination in the distance- Canaveral
