Day 0

Carla and I made it to St. Jean Pied De Port. We checked in to the Camino office and they graciously pointed us in the right direction- we needed it. We went to a 7:00 evening French mass in an ancient chapel. We followed along as best we could and felt quite comforted. At the end of the mass the priest asked all peregrinos (pilgrims) to come to the altar. Quite a few of us did. The priest asked us where we were from(all over the World), blessed us and wished us a “buen Camino”- the universal greeting on the Camino. I think we are ready to go. St. Jean is a beautiful medieval walled city with a population of about 1,500- they like us coming, very friendly.
